Most workers want a little bit of job security and to feel safe through their day, they want to feel appreciated and respected. We've worked years to gain the respect of our contractors and other trades. When you are a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, you are one of the respected professionals. Even if your skills aren't up to where the veteran members are we have training program that can make you one of the best. It all depends on you. We give you the tools and you simply have to use them.

Safety & Training
We offer a wide variety of training courses designed to aid you in becoming a skilled worker. Whether you are an apprentice or a seasoned Journeyman, we have training that can make you more employable. How much does it cost? NOTHING! Our instructors are all people who have worked the trade for years. Now they bring their skill to you.
OSHA 10 & 30
Our full time instructors are certified to teach the OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses. Working safely through the day under safe conditions is one of our main goals.
Rigging Certification
Ever seen someone tie a knot to lift a load and you only hope that it holds? Our Rigging Certification instructs calculation of load, proper rigging techniques, knot tying, and more. It even puts you under the boom of a crane to use what you have learned before making use of it in the field.
32 Hour Scaffold Qualification
WHen OSHA needed a scaffold training course they simply used the one that the UBC made! Ours is the best scaffold training out there. From rolling scaffold, system scaffold, patent scaffold and other systems, we have the best training available. This is our most popular class.
Forklift Certification
Carpenters often use forklifts (lift trucks) to move their material. This course certifies you to safely operate both a solid tire indoor forklift and an all-terrain boom forklift. Classroom instruction and equipment operation.
Aerial Lift Certification
ANSI requires every person who operates an aerial lift to have training. Yeah, we offer that too. For both boom lifts and scissor lifts. an extensive training course that puts you in the drivers seat to run the course and prove that you can truely operate one of these machines safely. If you can't...we take the time to instruct you.
Laser Qualification
Our very own training program for laser safety. ANSI states that everyone using laser tools shall be trained. We make sure that you have the opportunity to get that training.
Solid Surface Certification
ur isntructors have received training in Solid Surface installation. Attend the class and find out how to join these products together, repair them, and become versed in their use.
Welder Training
We have a 40 foot trailer that can be transported throughout the Mountain State. It has an 8-pack welder in it and numerous other odds and ends. All so that our members can attend training as easily as possible.
Optical Tool Training
From laser level, builder's level, transit, Theodolite, to Total Station we have the best training for layout that can be had. We expect high performance from class attendees. Take this class and you can be part of the few in WV that can operate one these machines proficiently....thereby making you more of an assett to a contractor.
These are just a few of the classes that we perform week in and week out. We arrange these classes for both Journeymen and Apprentices. We believe that if we claim a decent wage then we should be well worth our money. Contact the Training Center office to find out more about a particular class.
