Why We Need You

Why WE Need YOUR Business

One of the hardest parts of being a contractor is getting the job in the first place. Nailing that bid is tricky business and sometimes you have to sharpen your pencil to make it work. Have you ever been underbid by so much you wonder how the other company can afford to do the job?

Our Union contractors are always working with us to help "even out the field". We are working to provide every contractor with the same opportunities regarding their skilled labor and to help them have level ground to stand on. The more contractor we have bidding work as Union contractors, the better off all contractors are. We have set rates that allow contractors to bank on what the other contractors are bidding. This makes the bid process a little more competitive. Some contractors neglect the laws and refuse to pay workers compensation payments or insist on illegally paying all of their employees as "independent contractors" thereby bringing their bids in so far under everyone else that the law abiding contractor has no hope of competing. We work to even that field and make sure that our Union contractors are all on the up and up.

How We Can Increase Your Productivity and Efficiency

The catch word in today's construction market is productivity. If your employees are not productive, then they are costing you money. Some non-signatory contractors say that the wages that Union workers are paid is not cost effective. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Actually, our members demand a higher wage because we are trained and efficient workers. We have the best training programs available to trade workers in our state. We have training for both entry level and advanced apprentices, we offer continued learning program for our journeymen, and we have advanced supervision training to offer you a well rounded work force that is capable of performing their work with skill, speed, and accuracy.

We place a high emphasis on productivity. We teach in our classes that without our contractors, we are nothing. We don't hold to the old thought that the contractor is our enemy. We understand your business. We also understand that in order for us to make money, we MUST be productive and make money for the contractor. We believe that we should have a partnership with the contractors. So long as everyone has the conditions that they feel comfortable with, our partnership can be mutually beneficial.
