Carpenters

A Value Based Organization

The Carpenter Union is a Value Based organization. That means we have built our union on the beliefs that we hold in high regard. Brothers, Sisters, Family, providing for our family, and being able to retire with dignity are all beliefs that we work for. We want to stand up for our Brothers and Sisters. We want to be able to provide the best life possible for our families. We want to be able to work our career and then retire and not HAVE to work until we die.

From the safe working conditions we have worked toward for years to the eight hour work day, the carpenter make sure our members can provide for their families and will be around to enjoy the life that being a Union Carpenter can provide.

The Life of Most Non-Members

The life of a construction worker can be one of the most pleasing and one of the most dreadful. Generally, construction work is feast or famine. Sometimes you have more work than you can handle and sometimes not enough to pay the bills.

Do you want the ability to feel a little more secure? To be able to demand a higher wage for the skill you offer a contractor?

As unrepresented workers, you are at the mercy of your employer from day to day. A simple disagreement could lead to your dismissal. Isn’t your family worth more than that? Aren’t you worth more than that?

We believe that a carpenter that has skill should be paid a decent wage and respected as a tradesman. No matter if you are young or old, man or woman, if you have the skills then you are worth our time.

Are you being Served or Abused?????

Many unrepresented workers are being abused every day as Independent Contractors. Contractors hire workers and then classify them as an Independent Contractor. This leads to a tax form 1099 at the end of the year.

Being classified as an Independent Contractor may sound great but it’s NOT! that means that you have to pay the taxes and other withholdings at the end of the year rather than have them withheld. Watch the short video below to see how working as a misclassified employee affects you, your family, and your community.

You and your family deserve better than this. The problem with undocumented and missclassified workers is widespread. The damage is not just to immigrants, but to workers of all races throughout the United States. If you have a question about this issue, please contact us. If you are concerned about revealing your name you may contact us through our web contact form. Please be assured, that our representatives WILL NOT visit your work site and release your name. You can ask as many questions as necessary. We believe that we stand for the rights of workers everywhere.
